   Jaci, the goddess of the Moon, roams the Earth alone until Guaraci, the god of the Sun, appears and saves her from a jaguar attack. The two brilliant gods meet and adventure through the Amazon, showcasing the beauty of their powers in the vast tropical forest. Over centuries, their bond grows stronger, and they fall in love. However, their love and power are so intense that they disturb other gods: Sumé, the god of the Oceans, and Tupã, the god of Thunder and creator of all. Believing that their union will bring about the end of the world, Tupã imprisons Jaci and Guaraci. As Jaci is left alone, she cries, flooding the land, and Guaraci begs Tupã for mercy, asking for just one moment to reunite with his beloved. Jaci's tears create the Amazon River and its tributaries, while Sumé, with his infinite thirst and in awe of the power of her tears, swallows them and keeps them at the bottom of the Atlantic. Jaci and Guaraci remain condemned to meet only once, during the sunset and moonrise.

As a child she had believed that story and immediately had done so. Now 25 years old, Elena no longer remembers her past wish but now has a new one, to remember Laura.
